摘要
From a size and charge standpoint Sr**2** plus and Eu**2** plus are nearly identical and there are many isostructural Sr**2** plus and Eu**2** plus compounds. However, the fundamental difference in electronic configuration gives rise to some interesting contrasts in Sr**2** plus and Eu**2** plus oxide compound formation. Several ternary oxides containing Eu**2** plus have interesting magnetic and magneto-optic properties.
