Controllability in cross-directional processes: Practical rules for analysis and design

摘要：
The factors for design and analysis in order to achieve good cross-directional (CD) control on a paper machine are presented. The importance of aligning sensor measurements with CD actuators is discussed with respect to the importance of mapping uncertainity in CD controller performance. The open loop dynamics in a CD control system, deadtime, spatial frequency analysis and actuator spacing are addressed as important factors in the controllability of CD processes.
