The problem of excitonic excitations in superionic crystals of the AgI type was analyzed. It was shown that after transition of the crystals to the superionic modification, the exciton structure is preserved in the spectra of the superionics studied. Experimental data for the spectral density of exciton states in AgI-type superionic conductors indicated that the disordering of the cationic sublattice leads to a localization of the excitons in a fluctuational potential. Papers containing a theoretical description of the behavior of electronic states in superionic conductors were briefly reviewed. The possibilities of using exciton spectroscopy for studies of the structure and phase ransitions of superionic conductors were discussed.
