Improvement of soft magnetic properties of Co-Cr-O film by additional X(= Rh, Ir, Ag, or Au)

Soft magnetic properties have been achieved for Co-X-Cr-O (X = Rh, Ir, Ag, or Au) films including nanoscaled Co grains. It is found that the presence of any additional X not only reduces the coercivity but also enhances the uniaxial anisotropy field of the Co-Cr-O film. A Co65Rh8Cr11o16 film including both the hcp and fcc of nanocrystalline Co shows a low coercivity of 1.6 Oe and a high ferromagnetic resonance frequency of 3.4 GHz. A relative permeability of μ' = 90 is obtained at 1 GHz.
