摘要
Optimum luminance levels of character color in negative presentations (light characters on a dark background) and background color in positive presentations (dark characters on a light background) were measured by an adjustment method. Subjective preferences of several combinations of the character color and the background color was scaled using Thurstone's pair comparison method. Fatigue was measured after prolonged VDT work with positive and negative presentations. The following results were obtained: (1) optimum luminance value was about 30 cd/m**2 for light characters in negative presentations and light background in positive presentations; and (2) negative presentations were preferred to positive presentations, but a lower degree of fatigue was induced with positive presentations.
