Using the differential equation for the free oscillations of the overhead line the author gives the general solution of the equation of a locus with the eigenvalues. For the representation of a section of the line, different models are used. With the corresponding boundary conditions, the frequency equation of the line curvature can be derived. After simplification of the eigenvalues, identical values can be found for both models for the line curvature at the clamping point and hence for the boundary extension in wire in the outer wire layer. A comparison between an exact solution and an approximate solution shows for the usual line constructions, cable lines and span lengths an error of about 2%.
