The statistical characteristics of electron bombardment in magnetrons are obtained by numerical experiments using the giant particle method. Cylindrical and planar electrodes are considered. The effects of the anode potential and of an rf voltage on the distributions of thermal losses, energy, velocity, and electron incidence angle are considered. The nonequilibrium nature of the thermal loss distribution is much stronger at the anode than the cathode. The results lead to better development on design requirements for cathodes and anodes, cathode emission characteristics, and cooling for given performance characteristics.
