NEW METHOD OF EVALUATING TECHNOLOGICAL RESEARCH TEACHERS.

The evaluation of technological research teachers is an important contribution to the maintenance of standards in advanced technical education. In the absence of a suitable evaluation technique arbitration may be involved. A rational method of evaluation is proposed in which an integrated teacher index is used. The levels of competence with respect to the three most important requirements for teachers, i. e. , educational degrees, teaching ability and research potential, are quantified by awarding points. Models for determining the sensitivity functions of the competence levels and for evaluating the integrated teacher index are put forward. A method of determining faculty appointments and salaries based on the integrated teacher inndex is proposed. Examples which illustrate the utility of the system are presented.
