DEVELOPMENT OF COMPUTER-ASSISTED PRODUCTION CONTROL.

The identification of the areas of management decision in foundries in which the use of computer systems may be profitable, has led to the development of a simple computer-assisted production control system which is believed to be suitable for use in many different types of foundry, but which leaves direction of its use in the hands of foundry management without the necessity for the extended employment of data processing specialists. As a consequence of this development, a computer system is available for use at low cost to an individual foundry, thus making computer assistance available to companies for whom the use of computers might otherwise have been precluded. The work which a foundry has to undertake in order to use the computer-assisted production system which has been developed, is also discussed.
