The expected changes in the structure of the Soviet stock of currently operating machine tools in the next decade (including transfer machines and automatic lines composed of transfer machines) are presented. The expected changes in the technical characteristics of transfer machines and automatic lines and also the expected design changes are predicted. Expected changes in control systems and the accuracy requirements for transfer machines and automatic lines are also presented.
