摘要
The home gateway market fuelled by demand for broadband internet access throughout the home is assumed to grow from $267 million in 2000 to $7.1 billion in 2006 worldwide. Standardization has driven manufacturers to achieve cost reduction to the consumers prompting more competition. The open service gateway (OSGi) has launched the second version of its specifications for managed broadband services. The concept of residential gateway is the key to the home market. Network operators are also looking for solutions that will add value to their broadband access offerings that need additional services beyond simple access to make a viable business.
