摘要
It is demonstrated by mechanical property vs extrusion treatment data that the Ti-6Al-4V alloy can be cold worked by hydrostatic extrusion without the crack forming in the surface zone caused by swaging. This is explained in terms of the effects of uniform stress distribution, formation of glide dislocations, and phase transformation ( omega phase formation) by heat treatment. Hydrostatic extrusion experiments with different variables indicate an influence of prior specimen treatment and of the hydrostatic liquid on the deformation behavior. Thus, petroleum containing 10% viscotes appears to be superior to the glycerine-glycol mixture usually recommended for high pressure.
