摘要：
In May 1984 the author visited 10 underground coal mines in Alabama, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. The object was to study techniques used in the installation and salvage of longwall face equipment and to compare these to techniques used in British mines. This paper outlines the generally accepted methods of 'moving' longwall equipment in US coal mines with special reference to the equipment used in move operations. 3 refs.
