Electricity and Foreign Currencies.

The need to keep the trade deficit within bounds places a permanent constraint on French economic growth. The cost of energy clearly affects the severity of this constraint. The energy policy can and must, therefore, play an important part in minimizing this effect. An analysis is made of the relationships between the electric system and expenditure of foreign currency at three distinct levels: nuclear power and foreign currency; electricity and foreign currency; and EDF and foreign currency.
