Intensive development in the flax manufacture, particularly of the primary processing, involves introduction of an industrial technology for stock preparation - biological retting - into the production process. Exposure to a new adverse occupational factor, a chemical, together with aeromicrofloral and dust, has lead to specific changes in the morbidity patterns among the workers.
