摘要：
The present paper describes two techniques to determine the suboptimum allocation of production facilities. The objective of this paper is to compare the saving in total material handling costs. The input data consists of the coordinates of arbitrary initial layout, the interdepartment material flow/annum and the material handling cost/load and distance moved. The output is a plotted layout configuration after each iteration, the total material handling costs and the exchanged departments corresponding to the current iteration.
