摘要
Specimens of iron, 0. 3, 1 and 2% manganese alloys were used with carbon content being almost the same. Neutron irradiated alloys showed radiation embrittlement. Radiation hardening increased with increasing manganese content. Dislocation loops were not observed in neutron irradiated alloys but were formed in iron. Fine complexes formed by manganese, self-interstitials and carbon atoms act as barriers for the dislocation motion causing radiation hardening. In electron irradiated alloys, defect clusters were not observed. However, during annealing clusters grew as a result of decomposition of complexes and migration of self-interstitials.
