Application of smoothing splines is considered for describing the vibration record (oscillogram) envelope of damped vibrations as well as for determining a logarithmic decrement dependence on the level of the actual stresses. An algorithm for smoothing spline construction is presented as orientated for electronic computer. Results of the numerical experiment described in the paper testify to the efficiency of the vibration record treatment method suggested.
