Comparative Investigations of a DC Motor with Electromagnetic Excitation and with Permanent Magnets.

A series dc motor was investigated under two conditions: first with a wound-field excitation and by replacing the electromagnets with Alnico-400 permanent magnets. The investigations have shown that the dynamic featurs of a permanent magnet excited motor are superior. No demagnetization of permanent magnets was noticed during overload. Oscillograms showing the distribution of the magnetic field at various points of the magnetic circuit of the motion for different states are included.
