A study has been made of the adsorption and gas chromatographic properties of graphitized thermal black modified with monolayers of sodium salts of sulfonic acids of cobalt, copper, and rhodium phthalocyanines. Different methods were used to evaluate the capacity of the monolayer for the sodium salt of copper phthalocyaninesulfonic acid. The adsorbents that were obtained can be classified as Type II adsorbents; their selectivity with respect to saturated, unsaturated, cyclic, and aromatic hydrocarbons is determined primarily by the number of SO//3Na groups on the phthalocyanine ring, and is practically independent of the nature of the complex-forming metal.
