Robot accuracy (not repeatability) is a required specification for robot systems using off-line or other means of nontaught programming. A project is underway to develop a robot-sensor system for drilling and tapping. This paper describes equipment and techniques to measure robot and sensor accuracy, separately and together as a system, to a few thousandths of an inch. A computer model predicts accuracy for different combinations of robot and sensor, using actual component data.
