An analytic procedure for the calculation of optimum velocities of the heating and heated steam in steam - steam heat exchangers is presented. As an example, a steam - steam heat exchanger of a steam generator for a 1200 MW unit is considered. It is shown that optimum steam velocity depends only to a small extent on the cost of fuel and that it can be assumed to be about the same for all regions.
