A procedure for optimizing a central receiver solar thermal electric power plant is presented. Key parameters of the optimization are identified and examined to show the degree of interdependence and to derive a secondary set of vriables more amenable to optimization. The procedure is detailed with numerical examples, and the results for a 100-MWe commercial plant are shown.
