To achieve a better understanding of metal flow in tangential channel in pressure casting, the phenomenon has been simulated by numerical techniques. The simulation made it possible to detect an influence of the channel dimensions on the flow profile and to observe the evolution of the angles and velocities at the gates. The results of these calculations have practical implications for tangential channel design.
