摘要
Ribbons of an Al-12wt%Si alloy, produced with the Planar Flow Casting process at a cooling rate of 106 Ksec-1, revealed a single-zone microcellular structure of (Al) and nanosize Si particles which were distributed inside and at the boundaries of these cells. The solubility of Si in α(Al) was estimated to have extended to approximately 6.35 at% upon rapid quenching. Thinner sections (t<30μ) which have experienced even higher cooling rates show, in addition to a cellular structure, a distinct zone which is featureless at optical microscope magnifications.
