Calculation of matching of a piezoelectric transducer to a media with low characteristic acoustic impedance is considered. A new formula for parameters of the matching layer between the transducer and its load is deduced. Unlike the commonly used one, the proposed formula takes into account the acoustic impedance of the transducer operating at its natural frequency and the losses in the transducer. Some examples of applications of the deduced formula are presented.
