FRICTION PILES IN NON-COHESIVE SOILS. EVALUATION FROM PRESSUREMETER TESTS.

The behavior of driven friction piles in non-cohesive soils were studied. The bearing capacity and the settlement of the pipes were determined on the basis of the pressuremeter test results. The experimental work was, in main performed as load tests on piles, both in model scale and in full scale. Both concrete piles and steel piles were tested. Five concrete piles in full scale were tested. All the measured results were compared with the calculated ones obtained on the basis of the pressuremeter test data. A new proposal is presented for determining the whole load-displacement curve in a simple way by using the pressuremeter test results.
