摘要
An auroral imaging system consisting of two cameras sensitive in the ultra-violet portion of the spectrum was integrated on Sweden's FREJA spacecraft, which was launched in October 1992 from China using a Long March rocket. It is similar in scientific purpose and design to that successfully flown on Sweden's previous science satellite, Viking. The scientific objectives, program, instrument design and test facility that was developed to characterize the instrument are described in this paper, which concludes with examples of UV auroral images received in mid-October 1992.
