摘要
The Ferdinand Lake project was part of a multi-year program to provide detailed, up-to-date information on the geology and mineral potential of the Uchi Subprovince, Ontario, Canada. Although the Ferdinand Lake area itself contains few known mineral occurrences, it was selected for semi-reconnaissance mapping to bridge the gap between two areas previously covered by detailed geological surveys, namely, the Birch Lake area to the west and the Slate Falls area to the east. This mapping has allowed long range correlation of volcanic stratigraphy across this central portion of the subprovince. Such knowledge may be of considerable exploration value given the association of base metal deposits in the Confederation Lake area, and gold deposits in the Red Lake area with volcanic rocks of specific ages and chemical affinities. Geological survey maps of the studied area are included.
