A stabilizing controller design approach for a class of nonlinear time-delay systems is proposed based on staged transformation and design technique. For a single-in-put nonlinear time-delay system, a linear time-delay model is obtained by a nonlinear stage transformation, then a delay-free transformation is introduced to transform the linear time-delay model into a linear controllable system without delay. The stabilizing controller to the primitive nonlinear time-delay system is derived via a staged design method. Simulation result of an example shows that this approach is quite effective.
