Floating barges made of reinforced concrete have been developed for sea water desalination plants with a daily output of 1,000-10,000 m**3. Conventional desalination methods were examined to see if they remained functional even under the difficult conditions at sea. Economical and technical aspects have led to box-shaped barges.
