摘要
Available data on earthquake occurrence in the United Kingdom have been processed to yield estimates of focal magnitude. Further processes yield estimates of maximum intensity since AD1800, and the intensity to be expected in a 200-yr interval of continuing seismicity at historical levels. Further treatment has included investigation of a possible upper limit of magnitude, and discussions of local hazards for three of the most seismic regions and for background hazard in the remaining land area of Great Britain.
