There is a need for simultaneous optical transmission of two distinct signals, broadband analog video signal, and digitalized PCM voice signal or digital data signal, such as in TV transmission. Conventional multiplexing methods such as FDM, TDM, and WDM, can be applied, but some problems remain to be solved. This paper proposes a simple multiplexing method for a pulse analog signal and digital signal, which are multiplexed in different directions, time and amplitude. The proposed method is analyzed both by theory and simulation, and it is shown that with very slight deterioration of the analog signal, the multiplex transmission of digital signals with good quality can be obtained.
