摘要
This paper deals with the hot tearing of HSLA steel blooms. It has been proved that the essential cause of hot tearing is the extra addition of aluminum to the steel. The surface tearing can be reduced by close control of the residual aluminum content in steel. This measure can be easily used and it is efficient. For 16Mn steel produced by the open hearth furnace, it has been found by experiments on a production scale that the amount of soluble aluminum should not exceed 0. 015%, the optimum being about 0. 010%.
