A study has been made of the intensity distribution of electrons, reflected from the single crystal iron (111) surface and from polycrystalline nickel, which have lost energy through excitation of 3p and 3s core electrons. A calculation is presented of the 3p ionization loss which takes into account the effect of autoionization processes by the Fano formula and a comparison of the experimental and theoretical curves is shown.
