This paper reports simulation results on microwave-assisted magnetization reversal in magnetic thin films with perpendicular anisotropy. In comparison with frequency-fixed microwaves; frequency-chirped microwaves have higher efficiency in pumping magnetization precession and; therefore; can lead to more significant reduction in switching fields. Through the use of chirped microwaves; switching with low fields is also possible for large damping films. © 2009 American Institute of Physics;
