Industrial-scale combustion processes invariably fall under some form of air-quality environmental regulation, which can take a variety of forms depending on the application and pollutants involved. For instance, the European Union’s Industrial Emissions Directive and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations mandate continuous measurement of the relevant pollutants at the point of release to the atmosphere.
