摘要
A test platform was developed based on the centrifugal technology. Attachment forces of ants measured were found to be 40 times of the body weight. Configuration of claws and pad of ants were observed using scanning electron microscope. Analysis results suggest that the secretion is very important. Besides vacuum force, electrostatic force and other mechanisms, it is likely that capillary force is more significant in the vertical direction and viscosity of the adhesive liquid film dominates in horizontal pulls. Analysis using ANSYS indicates that microfolds on the pad surface facilitate the drainage of the liquid. These results may help to reveal the adhesion mechanisms of insects.
