Biaxial flexural instability of flat bar struts is experimentally and theoretically investigated. The struts are accompanied by initial crookedness and end-supported by oblique knife edges. The oblique angle to the weak axis shows a significant effect on the compressive strength of the strut such that larger the oblique angle higher the strength. The biaxial deflections with the elevated compression are well traced by the bending theory of beam-columns. Furthermore, the ultimate strengths of the struts adequately fit the column curve adopted in the current design specification employing effective slenderness ratios. © 2019 Architectural Institute of Japan.
