Multiple sources of funding from state and federal agencies have supported this research over the years. The design and establishment of this trial was supported by the New York State Energy and Research Development Authority (NYSERDA; Award 1737-ERER-ER-92). Over the years; multiple agencies provided support to maintain the trial; including the US Dept. of Energy Biomass Power for Rural Development (Award DE-FC36-96GO10132); USDA CSREES; USDA NIFA (Award #NYZ-2622-20-022) and US Department of Energy Bioenergy Technologies Office under award number DE-FC36-05GO85041; which was provided through the North Central Regional Sun Grant Center at South Dakota State University. Support for the data analysis and writing was provided by the MASBio (Mid-Atlantic Biomass Consortium for Value-Added Products) project; which is supported by the Agriculture and Food Research Initiative Competitive Grant no. 2020-68012-31881;
