摘要
Subsynchronous oscillation (SSO) tends to appear between HVDC control systems and closely coupled turbine-generator shafts in transmission systems involving large turbine-generators and HVDC links. This paper explores the effectiveness of using supplementary excitation damping control, or SEDC, for damping such kind of SSO. A typical AC&DC hybrid transmission system model is firstly modeled in PSCAD/EMTDC. Then various operational conditions are investigated to study the characteristics of HVDC-SSO problem. Further, a multi-modal SEDC is developed and its improvement on modal damping and transient dynamics has been analyzed in both small and large disturbances. The results show that SEDC can greatly enhance the damping of the torsional modes concerned and thus effectively depress SSO under small and large disturbances, insuring safe and stable operation of the generator and the system. Therefore, SEDC promises to be one effective solution for HVDC-SSO problem.
