Methodology of bus network optimization and adjustment under operation of new urban rail transit line

With the integrated network of rail transit and bus network as the subject of study and optimization of performance of the integrated network as the objective of study, the methodology was proposed for bus network optimization and adjustment based on new rail transit lines. Analyzing the problems to face, the heuristic algorithm for generating bus candidate lines was investigated. Then, setting maximizing the bus passenger traffic volume and rail passenger traffic volume and minimizing the average bus passenger travelling costs, bus operating costs and number of buses in demand as the objectives, the multi-objective programming model for bus network optimization and adjustment was built. The genetic algorithm was developed to get the Pareto solution set of the proposed model. A real example was used to verify the proposed mathematical model and the solving algorithm.
