摘要
The strategies and the techniques available that need to be adopted by the contractors while bidding to the customers, with the aim to remain competitive are discussed. Contractors must seek opportunities that provide the best chance to make enough money during the upcoming projects. Companies that procure most of their work from public jobs or regularly bid against a long list of competitors have higher bid-hit ratios and generally have estimators on staff. A simple tracking system helps determine the kind of job and customers to bid, when to eliminate a project type or customer, and seek out better opportunities to invest the estimating dollars. Contractors have realized that getting profitable work requires using different tactics and strategies than competitors and also realized that bidding is a small part of the sales process. It is therefore important that contractors develop a bidding strategy that fits within the business strengths, plans, and goals.
