For the optimal design of a heat exchanger network, the inlet and outlet stream temperatures of each heat exchanger in the network should be known. A simplified explicit analytical solution of stream temperatures of a stage-wise superstructure heat exchanger network was introduced. The new calculation procedure reduces the computer memory requirement dramatically and can be used for synthesis of large scale heat exchanger networks.
