Simulation of feed rate control system in ring rolling process based on Matlab

Feed rate control was an important factor to ensure high quality of the ring during ring rolling. In the paper, a simulation model of feed rate control system was established based on Matlab/Simulink, and a feed rate controller was designed to control the pressure roll movement to track a desired feed rate profile during the rolling process. Dynamic responses of the pressure roll were simulated to examine the tracking performance of the control system. Effects of the integral controller gain on tracking performance were discussed in detail. The value of proportion and integral controller gain was also determined when the tracking error of system reaches its minimum. The simulation results showed that the control system yields fast response.
