Progressive and planned programs of investment in high-tech machines have helped the motorsport manufacturers regain their lost position. Solihull-based Laranca Engineering invested in Mikron UCP 600 Vario 5-axis machine's installation which helped the company achieve machine parts in a single set-up. This has considerably improved delivery times and resources spent on workholding, improve part accuracies and increase productivity. Vodafone McLaren Mercedes Formula One team has installed three additional machine tools at the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking, Surrey. Another recent VMC installation in the motorsport sector can be witnessed at Cheshire-based CNC Heads. CNC Heads is using XYZ Mini Mill 560 machines to successfully tackle complex cylinder head work. Monolution has invested in YMT, Correa and DMG machining center technology.
