What does eMobility have to do with chemical recycling? The connecting element is called naphtha, which arises as a byproduct in the production of automotive fuels from petroleum. Naphtha forms the basis for the basic molecules of plastics production produced in the steam cracker. As long as no changeover to eMobility occurs, the production of plastics from naphtha remains. Although large-scale technological recycling processes are ready, presently there is no need for additional raw materials for plastics production.
