Application of speed measurement by Doppler shift on sounding of wind of upper atmosphere

摘要
In order to solve the problem of low sounding accuracy of the wind of the upper atmosphere by wireless theodolite systems, the method of sounding of the wind of upper atmosphere was presented based on the technology of speed measurement by Doppler shift from different sources, and the significance of the application of this method discussed. The mathematical elements of sounding of the wind of the upper atmosphere was analyzed by this method, according to the principle of Doppler shift and demand of frequency source for sounding accuracy, with the oven-controlled crystal oscillator (OCXO) on the sounding apparatus as a high stability frequency source, and its divided output as subcarrier to modulate the transmitter, the ground receiver measure radial speed from the frequency shift of the subcarrier. An elementary experimental validation was completed. The result indicates that the application of this method can improve the accuracy of sounding of the wind of the upper atmosphere by the passive sounding mode.
