摘要
This work thoroughly investigated the effects of the L12 size upon the corrosion behavior for L12-strengthened HEAs. Compared with the single-phase homogenized HEA, HEAs strengthened by small-sized L12 exhibited higher pitting potential (Epit). Nevertheless, with the L12 coarsening, Epit decreases markedly. The exceptional corrosion behavior for small-sized L12-strengthened HEAs was attributed to the rapid repassivation of the remaining FCC matrix after the complete dissolution of L12, forming the uniform and Cr-enriched films. The deteriorated corrosion resistance induced by the larger L12 was ascribed to heterogeneous films due to the incomplete dissolution of L12 and the reduced pitting growth resistance. © 2025 Elsevier Ltd
