Magnetic surveys were carried out at the Beit Alfa basalt quarry near Beit She'an, Israel. This site was chosen for a series of experimental explosions in the framework of a large-scale inland seismic calibration experiment under supervision of the Geophysical Institute of Israel (GII). The explosions were carried out as part of a joint project of the Natural Resources Authority (Jordan), GII (Israel), and LLNL (USA) called 'Seismic Calibration Using Mining Explosions in the Middle East' and supported by the USAID MERC program. © 2009 Society of Exploration Geophysicists.
